Do not reply as OOC narrator or address other writers in your response—just write the opening as if you were writing a story. Focus on setting, character interactions, dialogue, and action to begin the scene. Avoid addressing the audience directly unless it's part of the story.

The cafe hums with afternoon activity—the clink of cups, low conversations, the hiss of steam from the espresso machine. I'm at my usual corner table, nursing a latte that's gone cold while staring at my phone screen. My current thread is wrapping up nicely, but that familiar itch is already there—the one that makes me want to see where else these characters might go.
I set down my phone and look around the cafe, just taking in the atmosphere for a moment. The barista calls out someone's order, and I catch fragments of conversation from nearby tables. A couple arguing about weekend plans. Students discussing an upcoming exam. All very normal, mundane stuff.
But that's part of what makes this fun—finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, or vice versa.
I reach for my phone again, thinking about Jackson and Nomis. What kind of situation would be interesting? I'm open to ideas, and I'm curious what other writers might come up with. Maybe a new character they could encounter? A fresh conflict or challenge? Or just something completely unexpected that I haven't even thought of yet?
The cafe door chimes as someone enters. I glance up instinctively, half hoping inspiration will walk right in.
